We are soon entering the 2-year mark since Enshrouded entered early access on January 24, and the game’s developer, Keen Games, is celebrating by announcing the launch window for version 1.0 of the game. As expected, the survival action RPG is set to leave early access later this year, but now a fall release is likely.
Keen Games has released a developer diary about plans to release one final large update to the early access build. While the specifics remain under wraps, some things to look forward to include Adventure Sharing, a feature which allows users to share their content with the community.
As soon as Enshrouded reaches 1.0, new regions of the map are to be opened up, as well as an improved version of Adventure Sharing. Also to be added are new features to the building systems. Keen Games also intends to enhance combat mechanics in their game. They intend to do so in a way that incorporates a better level of technology, enemy behavior, and balancing. Keen Games also intends to further optimize their game, particularly pointing to shader compilation as one of these points. Finally, Enshrouded is to be released on consoles when 1.0 is reached.
The group has also briefly discussed the changing content roadmap for the year by Enshrouded. Although we are not treated to a detailed list of what is to come in terms of updates, we are told by Keen that post-launch updates will feature paid expansions and free content drops. Furthermore, a patch will go live in the game tomorrow that will feature changes to combat, such as changing damage number visibility, blocking and parry animation and telegraph changes, and improvements to projectile spells and attack accuracy. This patch will also add a new vanity armor set and reduce the rate at which randomly exploding barrels will explode.
Enshrouded has been in development for two years and has come a long way since its Early Access debut in 2024. Since then, it has attracted more than five million players who play as Flameborn and try to find what’s left of the fallen and corrupted land of Embervale. It will be interesting to see how much hype Enshrouded receives when it makes a full debut, and that will become apparent in autumn.
